Italian rider Max Biaggi continues to make history by becoming the thirty-fourth inductee into the motorcycle racing hall of fame, an iconic list not within the reach of all elite riders.
Biaggi began his journey at the age of 18, and from that moment on, he did not stop reaping successes in his track record on two wheels. In 1992, the Italian celebrated his first victory, and just two years later, he became world champion for the first time in his life.
The CEO of Dorna, Carmelo Ezpeleta , presented this Friday to Max Biaggi the medal that automatically makes him a MotoGP Legend, and Mugello has been the venue chosen for the ceremony, due to its traditional and emblematic history in the world of two and four wheel.
Biaggi signed his name in gold letters a total of four times in a row in 250cc, building his own empire from 1994 to 1997. The following year, the premier class welcomed the Italian with open arms, crowning him runner-up and securing a spot in the top five. positions during the years 1998 and 2005.
When Biaggi decided to end his role as an active rider, he had 42 wins behind him, 13 of them in the premier class. Added to this record are 111 podiums and 56 pole positions before the Italian decided to take the path of the WSBK , where he achieved 21 victories and 71 podiums, being crowned champion in 2010 and 2012. This means that his status as a MotoGP Legend presents him as the first MotoGP legend to also be a WorldSBK champion.
Thus, Max Biaggi makes Italy the second country with the highest representation in the emblematic hall of fame of two wheels. Biaggi will share space with names like Giacomo Agostini, Marco Lucchinelli, Valentino Rossi, Marco Simoncelli, Carlo Ubbiali and Franco Uncini.
