"My friend, the disgust" goes into series

Eight million comedy fans: In 2019 Dieter Hallervorden and Alwara Höfels reached as many viewers as a “crime scene” as a duo. Now comes the series. The main actors play a major role in the script.

Berlin – From puke to buddy – the miraculous transformation of retired teacher Olaf Hintz (Dieter Hallervorden) moved a huge audience in 2019. With around eight million viewers, the social comedy “My friend, the disgust” achieved a top score for ZDF.

Two and a half years later, Hallervorden and Alwara Höfels can be seen again as an unequal couple. He, the pedant. You, the chaotic single mother. On Thursday at 8:15 pm, “My friend, the disgust” goes straight into a series, in three double episodes.

Hallervorden appreciates the role: “Olaf Hintz is someone who gives an actor the opportunity to serve many facets. He’s not just the gurnard and the know-it-all. He is also someone who is forced here and there to look into his soul and heart. That is, in the episodes that now follow the film, that is expanded again. “

The recipe for success? “That comedy and drama are close together. There are things where people can enjoy themselves heartily. But there are also things where Hintz gets into situations where you can let tears roll down as a viewer, ”explains the 86-year-old actor in a dpa interview.

There are very specific reasons why the successful film is only now getting a sequel, as Hallervorden explains. “We both – including Alwara Höfels – said: ‘Yes, okay. But only if we at least maintain the quality, if possible even improve it. ‘ And we should be guaranteed that. And then we got the scripts and didn’t think they were that good. “

Then both main characters would have worked on the script. “Above all, Alwara Höfels, but I too, made suggestions for improvement. And when it was finally in the fourth or fifth version that we said ‘Yes, we can really agree’, then we went into the realization. ”The film became a series. A total of six new episodes were created.

The special thing about the project: Dieter Hallervorden (86) and son Johannes (23) stood together in front of the camera for the first time. “We know each other well enough to be able to play well together,” said Hallervorden senior. “We have often played together on stage. And it was a very harmonious and fruitful collaboration. In retrospect, I saw what emerged from it in the compilation. And it is impressive. ”His son sees the result the same way:“ I also think that it will be quite nice. ”

How will things go on with Olaf Hintz and the Kuntze family? The weird flat share is threatened. Because Hintz ‘sister Elfie (Ursela Monn) is suddenly at the door. Half a year ago she gave Trixie (Alwara Höfels) and her children half of the apartment so they could go on a trip around the world and know that her brother was in good hands.

Now Elfie is back in Berlin earlier than expected and wants to move in again. It happens as it has to: During an argument, Trixie packs her things and takes refuge with her children in the apartment of a friend who has been away – in a high-rise estate. Trixie grew up here – and for good reason never really wanted to go back. dpa
