The Japanese Honda rider crashed on the first lap of Aragón after touching Marc Márquez, forcing him to undergo surgery on Monday morning to have surgery on two of the fingers on his right hand, the gas and the brake.
The Japanese is not in his best condition, but for now the doctors have cleared him to go out to the first free practice session on Friday to then re-assess the situation.
“To be honest, the hand is not in the best possible situation, on Monday I underwent an operation in Barcelona and it is impossible to recover one hundred percent so quickly. After the fall I realized that the hand was bad, and it that I am going to have a very difficult race here at home, but they have given me a pass for FP1 and when it is over we will study the situation again and decide whether to continue or if I have to stop”, said Takaaki Nakagami.
The LCR driver was able to explain for the first time, after the Aragón race, how the maneuver went.
“It was very difficult, I tried to overtake Marc under braking at turn 7, I lost the line, he activated the holeshot and the bike went to the left, I tried to place my elbow to avoid contact but it was impossible, I I realized that it wasn’t Marc’s fault, it was an unfortunate incident in the race. I haven’t been angry with him at all, I had two contacts but after the first I lost control, I was lucky that in the second, when I fell, all the drivers avoided me and didn’t run over me. I’ll try to recover and do my best in FP1.”

“Normally everyone prays for sun and good weather, but it seems that there is an unstable forecast, a few days ago the typhoon arrived and the conditions will be bad. In the wet it can help to have less braking force and it can be better for me. But I feel sorry for the fans who have been waiting for this race for three years.”
Renewed for another season, Nakagami is developing the 2023 bike and, with it, Kalex’s new aluminum swingarm.
“I tried it in Misano and it was quite positive, I felt comfortable and I liked it. I think Marc also got positive feelings. The initial idea was to wear it this weekend but now, with the problem with my hand, I don’t know if I’m going to have the level of performance to prove it. If we see that I am well I will take it to the weekend”, settled the Japanese.
