The last test that Marc Márquez disputed took place in Mugello at the end of May, just a few days before traveling to Minnesota , where he underwent the fourth operation on his right humerus, the one that was fractured in Jerez , in the first stop of the calendar of 2020.
Since then, all the Catalan’s efforts have been focused on recovering the affected area, with a rehabilitation process that has led him to progressively increase the workload on that arm.
After receiving the approval of the doctors to return to training three weeks ago, the Spaniard organized two private test sessions, with a street sports bike, before taking part in the collective test that the entire MotoGP grid carried out last week, in Misano. There, the rider from Cervera (Lleida) completed 101 laps, “more than I expected”, in his own words.
The one from Honda, who focused most of those training sessions on marking the line that the Japanese manufacturer should follow when projecting the bike for the next course, said at the end that he wanted to give himself a few days before deciding if he was going to be in Aragón, or No. This same Monday he returned to shooting at the MotorLand karting, one day before confirming that next Thursday he will again take part in an official training session.
In the note released by the Repsol Honda team, in which no statements by the rider appear, it is explained that “the objective for this weekend will be to continue improving Márquez’s physical form on the bike and evaluate his performance during the intensity of a weekend of Grand Prix and a race. Born in Cervera, MotorLand Aragón can really be considered a home circuit for Marc and the local fans have always helped improve his performance on the track”.
Despite having missed eight of the 14 rounds that have been held so far in the 2023 MotoGP World Championship, the #93 occupies 15th position in the points table and continues to be the best placed among the Honda riders, with 14 points margin over Takaaki Nakagami (16th).
