The validity of Brad Binder’s contract until 2024, added to the formalization of the signing of Jack Miller at KTM, put Miguel Oliveira in the spotlight after not having a seat in the Austrian team.
In a season where the transfer market is gaining more and more prominence, the security of having a place becomes essential when establishing a roadmap.
“It is still something that has not yet been completely decided,” Oliveira advanced in an interview with the official website of the championship. “I haven’t signed with any manufacturer, but I think my future will continue to be on the MotoGP grid. It’s difficult,” he added.
The Austrian factory repeatedly showed its interest in continuing to count on Oliveira, offering him a very unattractive offer at Tech3 , which did not convince the Portuguese.
“I have spoken with KTM and I have shown that I have always been worthy of having a place somewhere in the structure. I want to be clear that KTM always did everything possible to keep me in Tech3, but I said that was not something that I wanted,” he recalled.
“I feel that it is in the official team where I can really contribute to the team, it is a place that I earned for my results and I can really do the job. I really wanted to be involved in this project for several more years and take the bike to another level. , because there is a lot of potential that has not yet been reached, but this is life. New opportunities open up for me.”
Thus, the Portuguese will end seven years with the Austrian team, beginning a search that does not seem to have shed much light: “It is also quite good to sit down and talk to other manufacturers and see what their perspective is on me, because I’ve never heard his opinion, so that was great.”
