Middle-aged women who drink only 15 grams of alcohol a day , equivalent to one drink, are in better health and age better than those who do not drink a drop of alcohol, those who have two drinks a day and those who drink four or more doses of alcohol on the weekends.
This is the conclusion reached by a study from the Harvard School of Public Health led by Qi Sun and published in the journal PLoS Medicine . Health improvements include a lower incidence of heart disease and diabetes . In addition, one drink a day prevents physical and cognitive disabilities and prevents mental illness when you turn 70.
To this is added that a study carried out last year in Boston and published in the Archives of Internal Medicine revealed that drinking alcohol in moderation prevents overweight and obesity in women. This mainly applies to the consumption of 15 to 30 grams of red wine per day .
