Taking advantage of the summer break during this month without races, the MotoGP riders are enjoying the holidays, some of them in our country. And those of Pecco Bagnaia, in Ibiza, have ended in a traffic accident.
As the Ibiza Newspaper first reported, the Ducati driver crashed this Tuesday morning (around five in the morning) when he left the road and ended up in the ditch. The most serious, however, is that Pecco Bagnaia far exceeded the allowed level of alcohol at the wheel, giving 0.87 mg / l in the breathalyzer test carried out by the police at the scene of the accident.
The maximum rate of alcohol allowed in Spain is 0.25 mg/l, so the Italian had tripled it moments after crashing the Citroen he was driving.
Fortunately, no other car was involved in the act and the driver was not accompanied at the time of leaving the road. Ducati confirmed the accident to Motorsport.com and reported that Bagnaia is now back in Italy, as planned.
And a couple of hours later, there was an apology message
Ibiza is one of the favorite destinations for pilots, and in general for all athletes. On this island of the Balearic archipelago it is common to see footballers and also stars and celebrities from any other field.
After the first 11 races of the season, Pecco is fourth in the drivers’ championship with 106 points, 66 units less than the championship leader, Fabio Quartararo.
After a very complicated start to the season with various errors and problems, the last six Bagnaia Grands Prix have been a real roller coaster with three wins (at home in Mugello , in the Spanish GP in Jerez and in Assen ), but also three ‘zeros’.
The accident comes just two weeks after the last round before the break, in Assen, where Bagnaia won with authority after another record pole position he had achieved on Saturday.
