Pentagon Memorial

The Pentagon Memorial commemorates the 184 lives lost at the Pentagon and on American Airlines Flight 77 during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The Memorial spans 1.93 acres on the western side of the Pentagon Building, adjacent to Route 27. , which includes a park and gatehouse spanning approximately two acres with 184 commemorative units, each dedicated to an individual victim. The commemorative units are benches that are engraved at the end with the individual’s name, floating on a pool of water that glows with light at night.

They are organized by a timeline based on the ages of these individuals and placed along age lines parallel to the trajectory of Flight 77, each marking a year of birth, running from 1998 to 1930.
The Pentagon Memorial was officially dedicated and opened to the public on September 11, 2008. The construction was financed by private donations. Centex Lee LLC built the Pentagon Memorial to the design created by Julie Beckman and Keith Kaseman.
