As the team made known through an official statement, Jack Miller will follow in the footsteps of Danilo Petrucci and leave the Ducati garage to join KTM. However, unlike the Italian, who had a one-year deal at Tech3 in 2021, Jack Miller has secured a two-year deal with the factory team.
Danilo Petrucci left MotoGP after a bitter season at the Austrian team, showing that the switch from Ducati to the KTM customer team did not work out well for him. However, the Terni rider has not hesitated to say that he is confident that 2023 will be better for his former teammate.
“Two days ago I sent a message to Jack [Miller] saying that we can now participate in the Dakar together,” the Italian joked about the competition he took part in last year on behalf of KTM.
“But jokes aside, I’m really happy for Jack,” Petrucci continued in an interview with Crash.net. “We were together at Pramac and then we went more or less the same way: Pramac, the factory team and now also KTM. And I hope he has more luck than me.”
Although the conditions will be different for the Australian, since he will be part of the official team, Petrucci is confident that a season full of joy awaits him.
“Being in the KTM factory team for two years is a much, much better opportunity. I am happy for him. It is no secret that I am rooting for Jack in MotoGP. .
From Petrucci’s point of view, two important figures at KTM will contribute to this. Technical director Fabiano Sterlacchini on the one hand, and team boss Francesco Guidotti on the other, both previously in the service of Ducati and whom the Italian knows well.
“Now there are two people at KTM who have helped me during my time at Ducati: Guidotti and Sterlacchini. I was one of those who tried to take them away from Ducati when I was at KTM, unfortunately they came when I left,” recalled Petrucci.
“After so many years in MotoGP, I still have a great relationship with most of the people I met in the paddock, including the guys from KTM and Ducati. And I hope that at KTM I can do a good job,” encouraged the Italian.
