The one that was to become the flagship of the launch of Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S has finally not seen the light on its scheduled date. Halo Infinite was delayed until 2021 and in various statements, Phil Spencer has stepped up to clarify the current status of the title.
In an extensive interview with Gamespot, the Xbox boss has addressed the abandonment of some members of the 343 Industries development team. According to Spencer, he believes that “in the long run, turnover is a healthy thing because we want people who are really motivated by the things they are working on.
The casualties in the team have been weighty since Chris Lee, project director, decided to leave Halo Infinite just a few weeks ago. Veteran Bungie developer Joseph Stanten has taken over directing the title campaign
“I have a lot of faith in Bonnie Ross and the team that has Joe Staten and Pierre Hintze.”
The manager admits that “it was a mistake for me to show Halo Infinite in July and then, a couple of weeks later, to have to change the date.” However, he adds that the public image of the game is very different from what is really happening after the work of the developers. ” I have a lot of faith in Bonnie Ross and in the team that has Joe Staten and Pierre Hintze, ” he finished, projecting confidence in the title.
For now, Halo Infinite does not have a release date. What we know for sure is that the multiplayer section will be free to play, a decision that can be very successful for the future of the Master Chief franchise.
