Born with the intention of being one of those visual marvels close to photorealism – and having stumbled loudly in large part because of that very idea – it had not occurred to anyone until now to change the look of Cyberpunk 2077 in a radical way.
Nobody except the modders, of course, who keep messing with the game and delivering ideas as interesting and recommendable as this Borderlanfy2077 , a mod that transforms the game’s graphics to bring them closer to the Borderlands style.
A cel shading style that bathes all its settings and characters with a very cool appearance that highlights the contours of the game and that you can try for free by downloading it from Nexusmods. As usual, read the instructions and the possible problems that it may cause well before trying it.
The idea seems to suit well-lit areas much better than dark, but given the level it shows a few days after its launch, I do not rule out giving Cyberpunk 2077 a third pass with Borderlands style in a couple of months, when the mod is more polished.
Become a hallmark of Dreamcast and the years after the launch of the Sega machine, the visual cel shading style was abandoned in favor of others, or fostering an evolution of the idea as seen in the most recent Dragon Ball FighterZ or Breath of the Wild. For those of us who grew up with him in a way, ideas like this are always welcome.
