In a complicated weekend and with a very charged atmosphere at Honda, for Pol Espargaró a good race this Sunday at Mugello was fundamental, but the final result for the Spanish rider was the worst: he did not finish after suffering a crash.
“Very bad, disastrous, it has been a very complicated weekend. I started from the third row, I thought I could make a good start and place myself with those in front. The pace was not very fast, but it was completely the opposite, I It went very badly, I lost some positions, and you get into a spiral of fighting with other drivers to keep the position and everything went really wrong,” he explained.
“I didn’t have an incredible pace and trying to recover positions I crashed in the two fast corners, it was a hard crash but, luckily, without consequences, but I’m really frustrated.”
The only good thing about this Sunday is that there is no time to dwell on it, since in five days the action returns to the home Grand Prix, in Barcelona.
“That’s the only positive thing, when things go wrong all you want to do is get back on the bike to redeem yourself a bit and try to be as fast as you can again, there’s no other, no escape.”
Without a doubt, Italy has been a very tense weekend, with insistent market rumors and the announcement that Honda will lose Marc Márquez, surely, for the remainder of the season, an atmosphere so charged that, logically, it ends up happening invoice.
“Yes, it is logical. Things are not working out, we are all in a slightly negative dynamic and this does not help the results come out. But we have to keep working, this has to change, there are many races left, we have not even reached half of the championship and there is an opportunity to turn it around”, the boy from Granollers was encouraged.
