Police officer killings: Suspects previously in trouble with law

On January 31, a 24-year-old police officer and a 29-year-old chief inspector were shot dead during a traffic check near Kusel in Rhineland-Palatinate. As suspects, the 38-year-old and a 32-year-old are in custody on charges of joint murder and commercial poaching.

Numerous dead wild animals were discovered in the car, with which the two were probably traveling. Investigators assume that the suspects wanted to cover up previous poaching with the murders.

According to the public prosecutor, further investigations are underway against the 38-year-old. According to media reports, the 32-year-old has been convicted three times since 2018, including for traffic offenses. *Merkur.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
