Princess Charlène: Does “the curse of Monaco” weigh on her too?

The wildest speculations surround the marriage of Charlène and Albert von Monaco. If you believe an old legend, the two could even be “doomed to misfortune”.

Monaco – For many palace insiders and nobility experts, it has long been clear that the marriage of Prince Albert II (63) and Princess Charlène (43) only exists on paper. Some royal fans even believe the two are actually doomed. What is the so-called “curse of Monaco”* all about?

Princess Charlène: Does “the curse of Monaco” weigh on her too?

The Grimaldis have had no real family life for almost a year. Charlène von Monaco* is still staying abroad to have her “emotional and physical exhaustion”* treated in a clinic. Meanwhile, her husband Albert and the seven-year-old twins Jacques* and Gabriella manage their everyday life as best they can without her. For numerous royal experts, it has long been clear that the love between the regent and his wife has expired – or even never really existed. Prince Albert* and Charlène are said to have already spent their honeymoon in different hotels*.

Some Monegasques even believe that the couple is doomed to misfortune. An old legend says that there is a curse on the Grimaldis that makes it impossible for them to have a carefree marriage.

Princess Charlène – “Never will a Grimaldi find true happiness in a marriage”

As reported by the Beaumonde portal, the dramatic saga goes back to the year 1297. The former regent Francesco Grimaldi is said to have sentenced his beloved to death at the stake. “A Grimaldi will never find true happiness in a marriage,” the dying woman cried out in the flames, cursing the entire family.

Even if you don’t have a penchant for superstition, it cannot be denied that happy marriages in the royal family* have been manageable, at least in the past few decades. Prince Rainier III.* (81, † 2005) lost his wife Gracia Patricia* (52, † 1982) much too early in a tragic car accident. His eldest daughter Caroline (64) was widowed at the age of just 33, and her third marriage to Prince Ernst August von Hanover* (67) has been said to be more than bad for years. Princess Stéphanie* (56) has had more bad luck than luck in love and has been divorced twice.

However, there is a small glimmer of hope in the youngest generation of Monaco royals. Princess Caroline’s* sons Andrea* (37) and Pierre Casiraghi* (34) have been married for a long time without a scandal and Stéphanie’s son Louis Ducruet (29) also seems to have found happiness. However, none of them have the surname Grimaldi. *24royal.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
