Only 10 months after KTM responded to his requests to move up to Moto2 after a single year in Moto3, Raúl Fernández got on a prototype of the queen class this Wednesday in the official MotoGP test that takes place from Tuesday in Misano .
Already announced the promotion of the two current Ajo-KTM riders to the higher class next season, the Austrian manufacturer decided to offer a training day to Remy Gardner and the Spaniard, who this Wednesday, shortly before 11 in the morning, They went out on the track with the bikes that Danilo Petrucci and Iker Lecuona are using in the Tech3 structure this year.
Petrucci himself explained on Tuesday, after closing the first, and for him the last day of rehearsals, that Gardner was going to take the controls of his RC16.
“Gardner is a good rider and every extra day on the bike will help him. We don’t have any new parts to test or particular things to test, so it wasn’t too useful for me on the day. It’s more useful for Remy to ride the bike “I would like to test the Dakar bike more, but it is not possible yet. I will have to wait until December for that”, explained the man from Terni .
Not so ‘friendly’ was Iker Lecuna , who had to give his bike to Raúl Fernández . For the Valencian, the first test day was fruitful and he regretted not being able to continue working this Wednesday, assuring that he felt “very angry” with the situation.
After the first two outings, Fernández had completed 18 laps with a best time of 1:35.268, slightly faster than Gardner (1:36.863).
