Far from improving since Thursday, when Raul Fernández planned to test himself on the bike in the FP3 of the Spanish Grand Prix, the young rookie woke up this Friday with more pain than he had been carrying since the crash last Saturday in Portimao, due to which definitely will not be able to take part in any of the Jerez weekend sessions.
As the runner himself explained on Thursday, the doctors had declared him ‘unfit’ to run after failing to pass the strength test they carried out on him as soon as he arrived at the circuit. However, Raúl asked to be able to go out on the track in FP1 for one last attempt to check the strength in his right hand.
However, the runner got up with even more pain than yesterday, he does not have a fracture but he does have a strong concussion.
“I don’t have any fractures, but my hand is very damaged at the level of ligaments and fluid spills, and these things are not as harmful as breaking a bone, but they are very annoying and slow to recover,” Raúl explained on Thursday. .
The rider will continue with the recovery plan at the circuit’s mobile clinic until Monday, the day a test is held at this same circuit in which he will not take part either. Raúl Fernández will continue with the work, already at home, next week to try to reappear at the next Le Mans appointment in two weeks, the home race for his team, Tech3.
Raúl Fernández will not be replaced in the Tech3 team’s KTM garage as regulations require teams to seek a replacement within ten days of a rider withdrawing, and the Spanish rookie’s first withdrawal was announced just five days ago. .
