The name of Toprak Razgatlioglu came to stay in the history of motorcycling. The WorldSBK rider swept through a season that crowned him world champion and, on everyone’s lips, it didn’t take long for information to come out linking him to the MotoGP World Championship in the short-medium term.
His team manager, Paul Denning , stated on MCN News that the Turk’s talent is comparable to figures who have been MotoGP world champions. “He has more talent than any driver I’ve ever worked with and more talent than any other driver I’ve ever seen. I would put Toprak on the same level as Marc Marquez or Casey Stoner,” he did not hesitate to acknowledge.
“The things he can do on a bike we’ve never seen: incredible pressure on the front brake, so much lean angle with the rear wheel in the air and the ‘ feeling ‘ and knowledge he has are incredible,” he added. “That makes him a natural. The things he can do from a balance, mobility, strength and body control standpoint, most athletes can’t do.”
Lin Jarvis is one of the exponents who most trusts the talent of the Turkish rider, especially when talking about a jump to the premier class.
“If he’s going to come to MotoGP, he should do it soon. So what better than doing some serious testing with the M1?” Jarvis told Motorsport.com days ago.
“It will be the first opportunity to see and feel how he can perform on that bike. I also think he can definitely be a capable rider for the MotoGP class.”
Currently, the Turkish rider is on his way to Estoril, venue for the third WSBK race of the year. During the Portuguese event, Toprak will try to give his best to defend his title, a goal that he shares with the thirst for victory of Álvaro Bautista and Jonathan Rea, who will not make things easy for him this season.
