As part of an ambitious project, Red Bull revealed on Tuesday in Milton Keynes the creation of a hypercar that has been designed by the F1 team’s technical director, Adrian Newey.
This two-seater hypercar has been developed to race on the circuit and will be a limited edition of 50 units, designed for maximum performance on the track.
The car, with ground effect, will be powered by a V8 turbo hybrid that generates more than 1,100 hp , and its objective is to approach the performance of a Formula 1 single-seater.
In addition to owning this exclusive car, collectors who choose to purchase this hypercar will have access to the Red Bull simulator facilities, the full development of the vehicle program and also track training.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said: “The RB17 marks an important milestone in the evolution of our team’s Advanced Technologies as we are now fully capable of creating and manufacturing a production car at our Red Bull Technology Campus. Bull”.
“In addition, the RB17 will be the first edition of a Red Bull-branded car that will be available to collectors.”
Newey added: “The RB17 represents all of our knowledge of creating world-winning Formula 1 single-seaters in one package, offering extreme levels of performance in a two-seater track-ready car.”
“Driven by our passion for performance at every level, the RB17 pushes the limits of design and technique, far beyond what has typically been available to motorsport enthusiasts and collectors.”
“It’s tremendously exciting,” Horner added during the announcement, which took place at Red Bull ‘s Milton Keynes factory.
“We’ve been on this journey together for 17 seasons. It feels like the next step for the company, for the business, for what we’re doing. It’s been a great journey so far. We also have our power units up and running, we have technologies that are being beefed up and we have this car that is incredibly exciting.
The RB17 will fit in with the philosophy of the F1 single-seaters produced by the energy drink team, adopting the name that the 2021 car should have borne were it not for COVID-19 forcing a transfer of most parts of the single-seater from 2020 to 2021 and was called RB16B.
“With a hypercar like this that will have true Formula 1 performance, it felt like the right step to follow this philosophy and be named the RB17,” said Horner .
“It’s great to see that Adrian Newey ‘s enthusiasm hasn’t diminished at all during the course of this project. It’s a great project for the whole company in general. Applying the methodology and everything related to Formula 1 was also amazing. Before, he was a little frustrating because we had to work with partners and so on, so we weren’t in full control of our destiny.
“With this, we have taken control of our own destiny. It is a brave project, but everything Red Bull does is quite brave. It is tremendously exciting to be in control of this project from start to finish without being a customer, something that is not We’ve been able to do it before.”
