Rins, injured, will decide this Saturday if he continues to race in Germany

The Suzuki rider was hit under braking at the first corner of the Circuit de Barcelona, just at the start of his home grand prix, by the Japanese Takaaki Nakagami, which sent him to the hospital, where a small but annoying , left wrist fracture.

Twelve days later, Alex Rins got on the GSX-RR this Friday to face the first two free practices of the German Grand Prix. During the second session, Suzuki’s team manager, the Italian Livio Suppo , said on television that “it doesn’t make sense for him to race, it’s my opinion, but I think the best thing is for him to keep recovering and save his strength for Assen”, the race that it takes place next weekend on a circuit that the Spaniard is doing much better than Sachsenring.

After the day, Rins, who finished 11th on the time sheet, admitted that he had suffered.

“I’m sore, in FP2 I suffered a little more, I don’t know if it was because of the heat or because I rode faster, but it cost me a lot,” he explained when asked about his injury status at the end of the day.

“I suffer a little where I expected, which is in the three hard braking, in the first corner (where he suffered a fall during FP1), in the descent and in the last braking”, in reference to the three most demanding points to time to have strength gripping the handlebars.

“We finished eleventh, 0.5 behind the first and it’s not bad at all, but the truth is that I’m suffering more than I thought”, continued the Catalan.

While Suppo advocates not continuing in competition this weekend, Rins, who has three consecutive zeros (Le Mans, Mugello and Barcelona), prefers to give himself one last chance. That is why he has not yet decided whether to continue or stop.

“I don’t know, it will depend on how I spend the night and, above all, how I get up in the morning, we’ll see what we do. Of course I would like to race this weekend, but if it hurts a lot and I can’t do more than three or four laps in a row, it’s silly to continue”, he admitted, before acknowledging that his intention is to go free on Saturday for the morning.

“Let’s see how FP3 goes, depending on how I feel we will decide in one direction or another”, settled the Suzuki rider.
