Rins: "Nakagami has given gas like a condemned man and it has impacted me"

Alex Rins added his third consecutive zero, a new fall that has separated him from the fight for the title in which he was immersed before the Spanish Grand Prix , where the surprising news was known that Suzuki is leaving the championship at the end of the season.

This time, however, the Spanish rider pointed to the Japanese rider from Honda as being responsible for his crash, and the team even filed a claim with the Race Direction, which came to nothing.

“I am very angry and very disappointed, the truth is that I have seen the video (of the action) and what Taka (Takaaki Nakagami) has done does not make any sense, he is one of the most aggressive drivers on the grid and I do not understand very good action”, Rins complained at the end of the race.

“On the lap before the crash, between turns 10 and 11, I put the bike in the middle of the chicane and the guy held his position there. On the next lap I was more aggressive and I let the brakes run more to get a good position, but the guy went long, he stayed there and opened the throttle like a damned man, we crashed leaving and I fell”, lament.

“Fatal decision of the commissioners who have not seen that this cannot be done. In the end there is no rule that indicates that you should let go when they have gained the position, it is more a code between pilots. It was possible to see two laps from the end, when Johann Zarco overtook Bezzecchi, he overtook him and Marco lost his position and said ‘ok’, I opened up a little more and tried to start faster. I don’t understand why the stewards haven’t said anything, luckily I’m fine and no other rider hit me from behind, because it could have been very hard”.

For Suzuki, Italy has been a disastrous weekend, since neither Rins nor Joan Mir have been able to finish the race, just like in France. In fact, since the announcement of his departure, neither of the two drivers have managed to finish races.

“I wouldn’t say it was disastrous, we’ve done good practice, we’ve picked up a lot of speed and we had a very good pace. It is true that in qualifying, due to the conditions on Saturday, I was slow and this has affected me in the race. But we have to show that we can, that we have the level to be there. It is true that we have three consecutive zeros, and that is not a good thing, neither for me personally to find a team, nor in the fight for the championship, but we have to turn the situation around”.

For the Barcelonan now comes the home race, where he hopes to straighten the course.

“We have to go to Montmeló super motivated. I have held a meeting with the team and I have told them that we have the speed, we show with the times that we are there and we are going to give it our all”, he tried to cheer himself up.

From Jerez, the atmosphere at Suzuki is not the same as before, said Joan Mir, who could not finish the race either.

“Honestly, the only thing you can do is give gas and forget about everything, and we are achieving it despite the bad news that there has been, we are able to focus and drive as we know how. And that’s good,” Rins said, however.

At the moment, the Catalan runner has no news about his future.

“The Suzuki news took everyone by surprise and many teams have to make moves that were not in their plans. But as the races go by, the pieces will be put in place, official Aprilia has already completed the team, we will see where we can go”.

“The next year where I see myself is on a motorcycle, the brand and if it is an official team or a satellite, we will see,” he settled.
