Rossi: "I would need a double to attend to the commitments"

The Italian finished third from last (22nd), 2.5 seconds behind the fastest (Jack Miller), on one of the worst Fridays of the season for him. Rossi, who this weekend faces his 450th Grand Prix in the World Cup, will say goodbye on Sunday to the fans who have revered him so much over the last quarter century.

In these last three tests the commitments pile up for #46 , a circumstance that complicates his life when it comes to getting the most out of a prototype that, moreover, has not given him too much joy.

Rossi, like the rest of the riders on a Yamaha , felt much better on a completely wet track (he was 12th in the first practice) than in mixed conditions, in which the M1s lose a lot of grip, especially on the landing gear. rear.

“With the completely wet track I wasn’t bad, but in mixed conditions we suffered. The bike becomes very complicated. I think we don’t work the rear tire well, so we don’t have grip”, summed up the Sepang Racing Team (SRT) rider.

At the Marco Simoncelli Circuit, the rider from Tavullia can’t keep up. To the work of setting up the motorcycle, for which the information that he transmits is vital, we must add the multitude of acts and actions to which he has to attend.

“I have to try to concentrate. I would need a double to attend to all the commitments, while I dedicate myself to driving and improving”, joked Rossi, who once again tried to explain the secret of his success.

“I have been so successful because I am nice in the eyes of people, especially those who were not obsessed with motorcycles. Especially with 80-year-old grandmothers. But, yes, then you have to accompany it with results”, added the multi-champion, who also revealed that David Muñoz, his track engineer, will sign with VR46 and will accompany one of the two drivers, Luca Marini or Marco Bezzecchi.
