The Ferrari team arrived at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya after holding a demo event at Fiorano just one day after presenting the F1-75 , and a filming day in Spain.
Those from Maranello surprised the entire paddock with their aggressive concept of the 2022 season rules, including gills in the region of the engine cover, useful for cooling the power unit, as well as risky angles in the rear area.
By 2022 they will have the same pair of drivers, who have gotten behind the wheel for the third time today, and have climbed to second and third position, with Charles Leclerc ahead of Carlos Sainz .
The man from Madrid, who got into the car in the afternoon session, was able to complete a total of 73 laps before seeing the checkered flag and returning to the pits. That translates into about 350 kilometers, the equivalent of more than one grand prix, and that added to the 80 laps of his teammate make Ferrari the most reliable team on the first day of testing.
“We still have a lot of work to do, but today we have started to notice the differences compared to last year. I don’t think it will take us long to get used to it,” said Sainz when asked about the plan that those in red wanted to follow.

The 2022 season is a huge change in technical rules, and it will be a challenge for everyone: “I’m sure the last tenths will be hard to find, but that’s the interesting part.”
“Anyway, that is not the main objective here in Barcelona, as we have to do more tests before the first race. It has been a good first day and I am looking forward to tomorrow,” settled the Spaniard.
Leclerc , for his part, was also satisfied with the performance of the F1-75: “It was the first time we were able to push with the new car and it felt quite good when I was behind the wheel.”
“The initial feeling is not bad, but we must not get carried away by today’s times, since these are the first days and everyone is hiding their cards,” concluded the Monegasque.
