Sebastian Vettel reveals the main reason for his retirement

The four-time world champion recently announced that he would be leaving F1 at the end of 2022. In a video posted on his social media, Sebastian Vettel explained that the value he places on spending more time with his children eventually outweighed his passion for Formula 1.

“The decision to retire has been a difficult one to make and I have spent a lot of time thinking about it,” Vettel said in a statement issued by Aston Martin. “At the end of the year I want to take some time to reflect on what I want to do next; I am very clear that, being a father, I want to spend more time with my family.”

“In addition to racing, I have raised a family and I love being around them,” he said. “I have developed other interests outside of F1. My passion for racing and F1 requires a lot of energy and spending time away from them.”

“Committing to my passion the way I did and the way I thought was right no longer goes hand in hand with my desire to be a great father and husband. The energy it takes to become one with the single-seater and the team to pursue perfection requires a lot of commitment”.

“My goals have gone from winning races and fighting for championships to seeing my children grow up passing on my values: helping them get up when they fall, listening to them when they need me and most importantly, being able to learn from them and let them inspire me.”

“Children are our future. Also, I think I have a lot to explore and learn about life and about myself. Speaking of the future, I feel like we live in very defining times and how we all shape these next few years will determine our lives.” lives”.

Vettel ‘s last few years in F1 have seen him become much more involved in environmental and social issues, and once again he hinted that he would likely become even more active in this regard.

“Talking is not enough and we cannot afford to wait. There is no alternative.”

“My best run? It’s yet to come. I believe in making progress and moving forward. Time is a one-way street. Looking back will only slow you down,” he explained. “I hope to enjoy unknown tracks and find new challenges.”

“The marks I left on the road will remain, and the rain will wash them away. Tomorrow belongs to those who shape today. The next F1 is in good hands.”

“I think there is still a race to win. Goodbye, and thank you for allowing me to share the track with all of you. I loved it,” concluded the Aston Martin driver.
