Hanover – A 29-year-old woman was killed in the collision of a bus with a tractor-trailer in Langenhagen near Hanover. The police announced on Tuesday (10.08.2021) that she was standing in the bus and was thrown out of the bus through a side window on impact. Although first aiders and rescue workers immediately tried to resuscitate the woman from Garbsen, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident.
Of the total of 15 passengers on line 480, 13 were injured, three of them seriously. A four-year-old had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. The 46-year-old driver of the tractor unit was also seriously injured and the 45-year-old bus driver was slightly injured. Previously, more injuries had been assumed.

The accident occurred on Monday evening (August 9th, 2021) around 6:20 p.m. at a traffic light crossing. According to the previous investigations, the traffic light system was switched off at the time of the accident. This would have resulted in testimony and the evaluation of technical records. Therefore, the bus driver should have given way to the truck that was on the main road, the police said. The 45-year-old bus driver is therefore being investigated on suspicion of negligent homicide. “We want to question both drivers as soon as possible,” said a police spokesman on Tuesday.
The articulated truck hit the driver’s side of the articulated bus head-on at the intersection. Subsequently, the tractor unit without a trailer hit a traffic sign and a traffic light mast.
The intersection north of Hanover was largely closed for rescuing passengers and recording accidents. Even a helicopter was on duty. Four children were among the injured. The traffic accident service secured traces of the accident and prepared a detailed overview of the scene of the incident using a 3D scanning process for reconstruction. The work lasted until late in the evening.
