Singapore GP F1 Qualifying Results and Summary

Leclerc will start ahead of Red Bull’s Sergio Pérez and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton after the one-hour qualifying session divided into three rounds in which five drivers were eliminated, Q1 and Q2, until reaching to the final Q3.

The weather conditions were wet under artificial floodlights, but the track dried out for the cars to start on the slick tire in Q3. World championship leader Max Verstappen suffered excessively, and was forced to abort his final lap after receiving a team order explaining that he was about to run out of fuel, and will start eighth.

What happened in the Q3 of the Singapore GP 2022 of F1?

Most of the drivers opted for the soft tires and changed midway through the session, except for Yuki Tsunoda (AlphaTauri), who set his first time on the intermediates before Hamilton beat his time by more than two seconds with a 1: 53,082.

Verstappen was placed at 1.2s, but Hamilton was again the fastest with a 1:51.019, something that did not improve Red Bull, because he stayed at 0.376s. Leclerc was first down to 1m49s with a 1m49.412s , 0.171s quicker than Carlos Sainz’s other Ferrari, as Verstappen aborted what looked like his fastest lap. Pérez took second position, just 0.022s behind Leclerc, while Hamilton was third with a 1m49.466s.

However, it was Verstappen who took center stage, and he scrapped his lap after the Red Bull team told him over the radio to pit, leaving him in eighth position.

Sainz will start fourth, ahead of Fernando Alonso (Alpine), Lando Norris (McLaren), Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri), Verstappen, Kevin Magnussen (Haas) and Tsunoda.
