Six years in prison for retired police officers

The retired official had largely admitted the allegations at the start of the trial. After the indictment was read, the public was excluded to protect the victims.

Düsseldorf – A retired police officer has been sentenced to six years in prison for serious child abuse and rape. Without the 63-year-old's comprehensive confession, it would have been nine to ten years in prison, the presiding judge said on Wednesday.

According to the indictment, the police officer at the time had committed the acts over a period of 13 years in an allotment garden in Düsseldorf. When his home was searched, more than 1,000 images of serious child sexual abuse were found. The 63-year-old has been in custody since January.

The girls are now 14, 22 and 25 years old. The prosecutor had asked for six and a half years in prison. dpa
