The 2022 MotoGP World Championship will start in Qatar on March 6

In a post on its twitter account, the Losail Circuit announced this Wednesday the start date of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship, which will start next year on March 6, three weeks before the date on which the current 2021 season began. , on March 28.

The official account of the championship itself echoed the post, making the news official. Initially, and as normality returns to normal within the circumstances of the pandemic, Qatar will host only one race in 2022, unlike the two it organized this year, adding the Doha Grand Prix in what was the first ‘ doublet of the year.

It will be the earliest premiere of a MotoGP world championship (since the category is called that after leaving the 500cc name behind), which in 2013 started on March 7 but never as soon as it will in 2022. In fact, in the first years of this millennium we had to wait until April to see the start of the new course.

Although in 2021 MotoGP only planned to repeat two circuits, Qatar and Austria, the circumstances and cancellations have led to revisions to the calendar, which will also run twice in Misano and Portimao.

Looking ahead to next year, MotoGP hopes to put an end to duplicities and be able to develop a championship with a minimum of 20 races on different circuits.
