Although Formula 1 has not yet announced the first draft of the calendar for the 2023 season with many doubts in the air, some races already have their place guaranteed and one of them is obviously the Australian Grand Prix , which was ahead of the own category and announced on the morning of Tuesday, August 16, the date of its event for 2023.
The organizing committee of the Australian Grand Prix confirmed through a publication on social networks that their event will finally be held from March 30 to April 2 and, how could it be otherwise, will take place at the circuit of Albert Park.
Said date still has to be confirmed by the FIA World Motor Sport Council at its next meeting, where they should also announce the final calendar, which is expected to reach the long-awaited 23 races, a goal that the organizers have pursued in the recent campaigns, but for various reasons they have not succeeded.
The race in Australia will have important variations next season, since the lower categories, such as Formula 2 and Formula 3, will make their first appearance of the course in Albert Park, accompanying the Great Circus.
Formula 1 recently renewed its contract with the Albert Park circuit until 2035, this after an internal struggle in which Sydney tried to become the venue for the event. The contract was renewed when the race was still under contract for three years, but the negotiation had to be brought forward because the state of Victoria wanted to dissuade “their rivals”.
The Formula 1 calendar for 2023 is one of the most anticipated, since there are doubts about the future of some historic circuits such as Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium or the urban layout of Monaco after the arrival of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, the return of China and that of Qatar.
The idea of the highest category of motorsport is to group the races by geographical areas to reduce their carbon footprint, but also to try to improve the logistics of the teams between the different grand prix.
