Free shows of natural phenomena
In my opinion, the best thing about Reykjavik is the beautiful shows of Mother Nature. Depending on what time of year you visit Iceland, you can be sure to enjoy
- Aurora borealis or northern lights (fall to spring)
- The midnight sun (midsummer)
- The polar nights (midwinter)

A free walking tour
This is a free walking tour (2 hours in length) for visitors to Reykjavik. It goes out almost daily, and it doesn’t matter what the weather in Iceland is on that day. You’ll hike alongside a budget travel buddy who leads the way. Other guided tours of Iceland have less walking and more driving (for the less fit among us) but they are not free.

Hallgrimskirkja Church is also on Reykjavik’s top attractions list! It is definitely a major attraction with a lot of Icelandic history. The grounds also house a statue of the first Viking who is said to have discovered America, Leifur Eiríksson. La Nave is open to the public every day.

Mount Esja: free views, trails, photos
Mount Esja (also called Esjan) is a popular recreational destination just 10 km north of Reykjavik. The views from Mount Esja will inspire any photographer, while the volcanic mountain range is beautiful to look at. There are hiking trails to the summits of Pverfellshorn and Kerholakambur.

I know that the card is not absolutely free, but for a few euros, you will get the maximum savings everywhere in Reykjavik.
