I put myself at the foot of the world of speedrun. It is a really fascinating section in which the community manages to get the best of itself, using unimaginable methods to cut seconds off the timer.
We have seen everything, but today is really impressive. A user named Hitshee has managed to complete the NES Dragon Quest III (better called Famicom, in Japanese territory), in less than seven minutes , using the cartridges of Dr. Mario, Final Fantasy and Kirby. A really revolutionary method and that you can see below.
The method to follow consists of exchanging between the different games, basically, but we are going to describe it, as they do from Nintendo Enthusiast. The first thing to do is get through the first minute and 40 seconds of the art RPG by Akira Toriyama.
Once done, it can be saved for the first time and swapped with Dr. Mario immediately. Once the menu of the plumber doctor is reached, Kirby is introduced, to return to Dr. Mario . At this point you need to enter the two-player mode and select virus level 20 for the first player and zero for the second. Once this is done, it is necessary to press 15 times to the right on the speed option of player two.
It’s time to go back to Dragon Quest III and, if everything went well, the save space will now have a Gadabout-class character with 20 MP and a wizard with paralysis. By now, the visual errors are obvious . After advancing a little more, you have to save again.
It’s Final Fantasy time . Swap with the Square Enix RPG and return to the other franchise of the Japanese company. For some kind of reason that we can’t understand, now the stats of your characters will be at maximum.
Finally, after advancing to Ladutorm Castle in Tantegel, you have to save. Reboot, copy the save from space 1 to 3 and start in the latter. The final scene of Dragon Quest III will jump and you will have completed the speedrun.
This week we learned about a couple of spectacular speedruns. The first related to Super Mario Bros., with a new world record, while the users of Breath of the Wild have invented a new way to squeeze the title.
