The Firefly Studio: Paint Your Own Pottery

For those of you with an artistic streak, there is a place in Little Rock to express it! At Firefly, you can choose from a variety of different bisque figures, plates, cups, boxes, and ornaments and paint them in whatever colors and patterns you want.

If you don’t have an artistic streak, they make it easy for you! They have many special brushes and designs to help you make the perfect piece of pottery.

The process

When you enter the studio, you will immediately see examples of painted and enameled pieces for inspiration. The shelves are filled with unpainted ceramic with prices listed for each piece. Prices include everything you need to finish the part. They feature a wide selection of figures that are perfect for kids, from dinosaurs and snakes to giraffes and fish. They also have perfect adult gifts like coffee mugs, plates, and plates. There is something for everyone.

Pick your piece, brush it (staff will show you how), quickly sponge clean, and you’ll go out to choose your paint colors. You can choose the colors you want and as many colors as you want. Ceramic colors look different when fired, so look at the examples on the tiles near the colors. Choose your painting and take your piece to one of the many tables where you can start your masterpiece.

On the table, you will find tips and some decorating tools. They also have stamps and sponges if you need them. After painting the piece, you sign it and it is fired and glazed. The worst part of the study is that it takes 5 to 7 days to see the finished piece. After I paid for mine, they told me when I could pick it up.

The price

When I visited, the prices ranged from $ 10 for a small tile to $ 48 for a large plate. Most of the items were around $ 16. That price includes paint, brushes, and other useful decorating tools, help from the pros if you need it, glazing and firing, and “study fees.” Basically that means you can sit there and work on your piece for as long as you need, with everything you need, without having to pay more.

They also have a frequent buyer program. If you spend a certain amount, you can paint something for free.

Special events for children (birthdays and camp)

There are special figures for children to paint during birthday parties in the studio. Parties are $ 15 per child and include all necessary pottery supplies. Parents must supply cake and drinks, but the studio provides decorations, invitations, balloons, and help to keep the kids busy. Parties require a minimum of 6 guests.

The studio also organizes special summer camps to teach children certain painting techniques. Call them and see when the next class is.
