The statistics of the event and the drivers of the 2022 Australian GP of F1

  • This was the 36th edition of the Australian Grand Prix, entering the list of the 12 most repeated events in the history of Formula 1.
  • The Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne hosted this event for the 25th time, the first after 24 consecutive editions from 1996 to 2019. It is the 14th most visited track by the top flight.
  • Fernando Alonso made his 337th start in F1, falling 13 short of the record for most grand prix races held by Kimi Raikkonen (350).
  • Lewis Hamilton completed his 181st career with Mercedes, surpassing the record held by Michael Schumacher and Ferrari (180 races together between 1996 and 2006).

The statistics of the classification of the Australian GP of the F1 2022

  • Charles Leclerc achieved his 11th career pole position, beating Jochen Rindt . It is the first time he has done it in Melbourne.
  • This was the tenth different event in which Leclerc has taken a pole position. The Monegasque became the 26th pilot in history to achieve it.
  • This was pole position 232 for Ferrari and 233 for a Maranello engine. Absolute records.
  • Leclerc and Ferrari put an end to Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes ‘ run of six consecutive pole positions at Albert Park.
  • This pole position was the first for Ferrari in Australia since Kimi Räikkönen ‘s in 2007.
  • Max Verstappen’s front row on the grid at the Australian GP marked Red Bull’s first in Melbourne since 2014, when Daniel Ricciardo was second.
  • Lewis Hamilton hadn’t been outside the top 3 in the Australian GP standings since 2010, when he was driving for McLaren and was 11th.

  • Charles Leclerc took his fourth victory in Formula 1, equaling Dan Gurney, Bruce McLaren and Eddie Irvine. Also fourth from pole position.
  • This was Ferrari ‘s 240th victory as a constructor and 241st as an engine manufacturer.
  • Charles Leclerc set his 7th fastest career lap, equaling Jacques Laffite.
  • It was the third consecutive fastest lap for Leclerc , being the second driver on the grid after Lewis Hamilton .
  • Leclerc became the 57th driver in F1 history and the seventh on the current grid to lead a race from start to finish.
  • As a result, Leclerc is the 26th driver in history to win a Grand Chelem (pole position, fastest lap and the entire race in the lead).
  • Leclerc is the second Ferrari driver to complete a Grand Chelem since 2004, after Fernando Alonso at the 2010 Singapore Grand Prix.
  • This performance bodes well for the Monegasque, since since 2011 any driver who has done a Grand Chelem has won the world title that same year ( Sebastian Vettel in 2011, 2012 and 2013, Lewis Hamilton in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019 , Nico Rosberg in 2016, and Max Verstappen in 2021).
