Slight variations with respect to the national trend

To begin with, we see that in Extremadura, unlike what happens in a good part of the autonomous communities, the name Martín is not the most chosen for babies , although it ranks second in the ranking of the most popular.
Observing the top 5 of the names most chosen by parents from Extremadura , we see that except for Martín and Hugo, the rest of the names occupy lower positions in the national trend. In fact, the most chosen name in Extremadura, Manuel , is the sixth nationally, and the third most chosen name, Álvaro , does not appear in the top 10 of the most popular names in Spain.
Special mention also deserves the name of Carlos , who although he is the seventh most chosen by parents for their children born in Extremadura, at a national level it is a name that occupies position 35.

Lucía, the most popular name in Extremadura and the favorite in all of Spain for years
Unlike what happens with the most popular boy’s names in Extremadura, girl’s names hardly have variations with respect to the national trend. Thus, we see that Lucía , the name most often given to girls from Extremadura, is also the most chosen at the national level, following the same trend for several years.
The only notable difference is found in the name of Jimena , which although it occupies the top 10 of the most popular in Extremadura, in the INE registry at the national level it occupies position 24.
