The reason that convinced Fabio Quartararo to renew with Yamaha

In a course where the transfer market monopolizes all eyes, Fabio Quartararo’s leadership and the limited possibilities of a team change led the French rider to be critical of himself and the situation that Yamaha is going through.

Despite the fact that the young man from the Côte d’Azur is very excited after announcing the continuity in the Japanese garage, the reality is that this situation has not been easy for the 23-year-old driver.

“As you can imagine, I wasn’t just talking to Yamaha,” Fabio Quartararo introduced the Spanish press. “I took all this time to think, because my mind went to one side, and a week later I thought of another alternative.”

“Speaking with other teams, there came a time when I said ‘look, with this bike I only need one thing and it’s power’, and I saw that they quickly got their act together on this issue and that they have really put a lot of remedy so that I’ll have it for next year.”

In this way, Fabio Quartararo will continue to spearhead the Japanese manufacturer, but not at all costs. The incorporation of new personnel in the technical department of Yamaha is presented as the survival piece that could ensure the success of the tuning fork brand gear.

In this way, the French driver lets himself be loved by the idea of a new team and the start-up of a 2023 engine that he hopes to be able to test soon.

Despite not registering the desired power, Fabio Quartararo’s M1 currently leads the championship qualifying sheet, so, following the blue garage theory, two factors could make the official Yamaha one of the most powerful bikes on the grid starting MotoGP in 2023.

For the time being, these reasons have acted as an incentive to ensure the permanence of the French driver in their ranks.

“In the past they were working on various areas and they couldn’t accept that the bike was slower and now they know. Now, the new engineers and my results, knowing that I couldn’t do more due to lack of power, did decide. They have never worked as hard to bring power as this year”, assured the Frenchman.

“I think in the project. This has been a good decision and I am very happy, because we are really doing our best to find what we are missing.”

“My first objective is to have the best bike and the best project. Clearly at Yamaha they are going to work on that weak point and that is what has made me make the decision to stay. They have convinced me because they have hired new personnel, they are working hard and they know exactly where they have to improve,” concluded the French driver.
