The starting grid of the MotoGP Australian GP

Jorge Martín set a new Phillip Island outright record to take pole position at the Australian Grand Prix. The rider from Madrid managed to stop the clock in 1:28.132, ahead of Marc Márquez, second, and Pecco Bagnaia, third.

The men in the general classification will start very close together , after Aleix Espargaró classified in fourth position and Fabio Quartararo did the same with the fifth fastest time. Jack Miller, local idol, did not have the best Q2 of the year, and will start late, in seventh place; although that will not prevent him from fighting for victory, as he did in the last Japanese Grand Prix. Marco Bezzecchi, who had been fast throughout the weekend, did not complete a good qualifying either, and will start from ninth on the grid.
