Formula 1 will only know what the break is after the Hungarian Grand Prix, which precedes the summer break and is the thirteenth round of the 2022 season.
At the Hungaroring , venue for the fourth race in just five weeks, Pirelli have decided the following tires will be used:
- C2 (the hard one, white in color)
- C3 (middle, yellow)
- C4 (the soft one, red in color)
The choice is balanced, as they are the three central compounds of the range for 2022, which ranges from C1 (the hardest) to C5 (the softest). The tires on the ends are the ones that will be missing on the Hungarian track.

The Hungaroring is known for being an extremely hot and dry circuit: last year, tarmac temperatures during free practice approached 60 degrees .
-
However, rain is not a strange visitor: in the last two seasons, it rained just before the race.
-
Last year, due to this precipitation, we experienced one of the most bizarre moments of the season. After the race was stopped due to an accident at the first corner, Lewis Hamilton was the only one to start from the grid, on intermediate tyres, while the rest pitted for dry tyres.
- The Hungarian track is not a circuit that exerts a particularly high level of stress on the tyres: the asphalt is smooth, although it has some irregularities at some points, and the tires are put to the test more in traction than in braking.
As usual, Mario Isola was in charge of sharing what Pirelli expects from the Grand Prix.
“The Hungaroring has always been considered a difficult circuit to overtake, but the new car and tire package allows the drivers to get much closer to each other, and this has allowed us to see some fantastic races full of overtaking this year.”
“We expect the same thing to happen at the Hungaroring, a tight and twisty track where the single-seaters often run together. Hungary has a reputation for being very hot, but in the last two seasons the rain has also come… All in all, never jump to conclusions! The Hungaroring has given us several surprises in the past, and this year it may surprise us even more.”
