The 'Yellow Day' is a lie. These things, on the other hand, do make us fathers and mothers happy.

In contrast to Blue Monday or the saddest day of the year, today, June 20, Yellow Day or the happiest day is celebrated . The idea arose in 2005, when the British psychologist Cliff Arnall decided to devise a formula to measure happiness, optimism and positivity as part of a commercial campaign.

Thus, among the conjunction of reasons that would lead this day to hold such an honorable title would be the arrival of summer, the increase in daylight hours and temperatures and the long-awaited vacations.

Obviously there is no scientific data that supports such a formula of happiness, but on the occasion of this day that everyone is talking about, we wanted to review what real reasons are those that do not make parents happy ; not only today, but the rest of the calendar days.

May our children be healthy

Health is everything , and much more when we talk about the health of a child. However, we often overlook this important aspect of life, and it is not until it is missing that we truly realize its incalculable value.

When our children get sick (although it is a banal and typical childhood process) it is normal for parents to worry. We spend the nights taking care of them, making sure they are resting, that they don’t have a fever, and watching over every cough, vomit or tear.

For this reason, without a doubt, I would affirm that the health of our children is what makes us happiest , and we would surely give anything to see them grow up always healthy and strong.

May our children be happy

What father is not happy just to see his son happy ?

When I have a bad day I stop to watch my children play, happy, innocent and oblivious to this crazy world that surrounds us and suddenly I feel that my problems dissipate as if by magic.

And it is that the pure smile of children, their scandalous and contagious laughter , and the happiness that their eyes often radiate are some of the things that make us parents happier.

See the children succeed

When we talk about “succeeding” we don’t mean that they get the best grades, play football like a superstar or draw pictures as if they were Pablo Picasso himself.

For any parent, happiness is seeing their child succeed in life doing what they like and being happy with it , fulfilling dreams and achieving goals. Happiness is being able to accompany our children in the discovery of their own passions and give them wings to not limit themselves and conquer mountains if they so wish.

Be certain that we are preparing them for life

Our responsibility as parents is to raise autonomous, independent and self-confident children , so that they can function successfully in life and know how to take advantage of their strengths and virtues for their own benefit.

For this, it is essential to educate them in autonomy, not to do things for them and provide them from their earliest childhood with all the tools and resources they need to grow freely and independently , feeling capable and confident, but at the same time knowing that they can count on us when they need it.

May our children trust us

While they are small, the logical and desirable thing is that our children come to us to feel safe, but wouldn’t it seem wonderful if they continue to do so in the future, when they have become independent adults?

That is why, personally, it would make me tremendously happy if my children have the certainty that they will always find their refuge in their parents , the shoulder to cry on when things are not going well, the first people to trust or with whom to share that wonderful news. .

Have a good sibling relationship

In case of having more than one child, happiness for parents is also witnessing a good relationship between siblings . Seeing our children play together, enjoy each other’s company, have each other, and even fight and solve their problems in a respectful way, is one of the greatest satisfactions we can feel.

May our children be good people

If we think about how we would like our son to be in the future , surely one of the characteristics that we would most appreciate would be that he was a good person.

Therefore, when through daily actions and gestures we witness how our children care about others and are empathetic and respectful of the needs of those around us, it is normal to feel tremendously proud and happy.

Enjoy a family vacation

If we value other more mundane aspects, personally one of the things that makes me happiest is enjoying family vacations . Being on vacation relaxes me and allows me to fully connect with my children, immerse myself in their crazy childhood adventures, and enjoy the happiness of little things.

Enjoy time for myself and as a couple

But having time for oneself and to enjoy the couple also has a positive impact on children and their well -being, and for this reason we should be aware of the importance of spending time that makes us feel good and brings us happiness.

And it is that enjoying quality time for myself, as well as making plans alone with my partner knowing that my children are well cared for and happy enjoying the company of their grandparents or uncles, also makes me tremendously happy.

We live surrounded by technology and it is inevitable that this will be incorporated as one more tool in parenting. In addition to apps that help with things ranging from designing your baby's room to managing the calendar of children with separated parents, devices such as tablets, mobile phones or smart speakers are here to stay. Proof of this is the growing use of Alexa as a timer that children obey without question (or at least without protesting as much as their mother).
