These are the European royal names most frequently chosen by parents for their babies

Baby names inspired by kings, queens and rulers are always very popular, but among so much variety it is difficult to choose which one. Some want their child’s name to be original in addition to being “real”, while for others the important thing is the story or the meaning behind the name.

A study carried out by the company Diamonds Factory reveals to us which are the European royalty names that parents choose most frequently for their babies, both in our country and in other European countries.

The most popular real names in Spain

If we take a look at the names of kings and queens that our country has had throughout the centuries, we will realize that many have been repeated generation after generation.

This has meant that over the years, Spanish parents have chosen these names for their babies as well. Thus, among the most popular boy names are :

  • Philip
  • Charlie
  • Ferdinand
  • Alfonso
  • Lewis

As for girls, the real names that are used the most are Isabel and Juana.

The most popular real girl names in Europe

According to the map of Europe prepared by Diamonds Factory about the real names that predominate according to the country, we see that there are three female names of queens that are repeated in various geographical points :

  • Margarita, Margareta or Margaret (the form varies according to the country), tops the list of the names of female monarchs that are most successful among babies.

We find it especially in Sweden, where it is the third most popular queen name for girls, but also in other countries such as the United Kingdom, Norway, Denmark, Scotland or Germany.
