Sony’s successful Nordic adventure Santa Monica God of War has received 10 nominations for the 2019 BAFTA Game Awards , leading the nominations and opening the door to winning the most prestigious award in video games.
The PlayStation 4 big-budget exclusive won applause at its launch last April. The game was praised for its exceptional combat, visual splendor, and the relationship between the antihero Kratos and his son Atreus. Bafta’s nominations have not been far behind and have reflected precisely this, with nominations for artistic achievements, sound achievements, game design, music, narrative, four nominations for Best Performer and Best Game.
God of War will take on a wide range of games for the top spot, taking on not just the blockbusters Red Dead Redemption 2 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but the fabulous virtual reality platformer Astro Bot and Celeste and Return. of the Obra Dinn from an independent factory.
Last year’s Best Game winner was the critically acclaimed surreal narrative drama What Remains of Edith Finch.
This will be the 15th edition of the Bafta Game Awards. The awards ceremony will take place at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall on April 4. It will be streamed live on various online platforms, including Twitch, YouTube, and social media.
