Few series have had such a successful premiere as ‘The Squid Game’ , to the point of becoming the most watched series in Netflix history in just two weeks. According to data provided by the company, South Korean fiction has already exceeded 130 million viewers.
Netflix estimates that 89% of users who started the series watched at least 75 minutes , more than one episode, and 66% of viewers, 87 million people globally, finished it in just 23 days. In total, the public has dedicated more than 1,400 million hours to see it.
Regarding what it has cost to produce ‘The Squid Game’, according to documents reviewed by Bloomberg, the cost amounts to 21.4 million dollars, around 2.4 million per chapter .
But how much is Netflix going to earn from this production? Nothing more and nothing less than 900 million dollars of income for the company . To this must be added that its shares have grown almost 7% since September 17, when it was released.

The participants of ‘The Squid Game’ wear a green tracksuit with its corresponding number and white sneakers. Such is the popularity of the series that Vans brand shoes have increased their sales by up to 7,800% in less than a month.
They are classic white slip-on sneakers , like the ones worn by the 456 contestants in the series. There have never been so many sold as now, and everything indicates that there will come a time when the company will run out of stock and they will be sold on the second-hand market for a fortune.
Season 2 of ‘The Squid Game’
For now, very little is known about the second season of South Korean fiction . Although Netflix has not confirmed it, it is practically assured. Now, Hwang Dong-huyk, the creator of ‘The Squid Game’, points out that he has not even considered the continuity of the series, but, if he does, he will take his time and use a team of writers.
“Writing ‘The Squid Game’ was very difficult for me. It took me six months to write and rewrite the first two chapters. I don’t have well-developed plans for season two. It’s pretty exhausting just thinking about it.
