Nobody expected that: Almost 14 million viewers wanted to see Thomas Gottschalk’s retro show with prominent guests.
Berlin – ZDF cleared away on Saturday evening with the comeback of “Wetten, dass ..?” And entertainer legend Thomas Gottschalk.
13.8 million viewers (45.7 percent market share) saw the retro show with Gottschalk and presenter Michelle Hunziker from 8.15 p.m. The guests included the ABBA stars Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, Schlagerqueen Helene Fischer and rocker Udo Lindenberg.
The retro edition had significantly more viewers than the last “Wetten, dass ..?” Broadcast on December 13, 2014 – at that time 9.27 million fans followed the show hosted by Markus Lanz (32.5 percent). Gottschalk’s “Wetten, dass ..?” Farewell on December 3, 2011 had 14.73 million viewers and a market share of 46.0 percent – so similar values as now with the provisionally one-time re-edition.
All other channels were far behind on Saturday evening. 3.94 million (12.0 percent) were interested in the ARD crime thriller “Das Lied des toten Mädchen” (The Song of the Dead Girl). ProSieben’s music show “The Masked Singer” had 2.20 million viewers (7.1 percent). There actor Samuel Koch just missed the semi-finals. Koch has been using a wheelchair since he had an accident in 2010 in “Wetten, dass ..?”.
1.05 million (3.3 percent) were interested in the action thriller “Mission: Impossible – Phantom Protocol” on Sat.1. The RTL show “Das Supertalent” had no chance against “Wetten, dass ..?” And “The Masked Singer” with just 0.78 million viewers (2.4 percent).
RTLzwei bet on adventure with “Quatermain – In Search of the Treasure of Kings” and thus reached 0.71 million viewers (2.2 percent). 0.53 million (1.6 percent) followed the fantasy comedy “Ghostbusters” on Vox. With the crime series “Hawaii Five-0”, Kabel Eins had 0.55 million viewers (1.7 percent). dpa
