After the death of a five-year-old in a day care center in Lemgo, the police have started an investigation. In Gelsenkirchen, a child died in a care facility on Monday
Lemgo – After the fatal accident of a five-year-old while playing on a trailer at a daycare center in Lemgo in North Rhine-Westphalia, the public prosecutor’s office is investigating unknown persons on suspicion of negligent homicide.
“Much is still completely unclear,” said the spokesman for the Detmold public prosecutor Ralf Vetter on Wednesday. In addition to the exact course of events, it must be determined why the trailer was parked there. Apparently there are no adult eyewitnesses, said the chief prosecutor.
According to the police’s previous knowledge, the boy had played on Tuesday afternoon on a vehicle trailer with a tilting loading area parked on the premises of the daycare center in the Lieme district. It was then wedged between the tipping device and the chassis of the approximately two by three meter trailer. He had been rescued by rescue workers, but succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The boy’s body is to be autopsied in order to be able to determine the cause of death more precisely. The trailer was also seized and is to be examined by an expert.
According to a police spokesman, the officers were again at the scene of the accident on Wednesday to get an idea. It was unclear when questioning possible witnesses and employees of the daycare center could take place. “Possible witnesses are children or employees. Everyone is shocked. Since questioning can only be done very carefully, “said the police spokesman.
It was only on Monday that there was also a fatal accident in a childcare facility in Gelsenkirchen. According to previous knowledge, a two-year-old had his head trapped in a bunk bed while he was sleeping there and was suffocated. dpa
