Ukraine conflict: Söder welcomes US soldiers in Nuremberg – and promises a Bavarian gift

US President Joe Biden is sending thousands of soldiers to Europe to strengthen NATO in the Ukraine conflict. Markus Söder receives 200 of them at Nuremberg Airport.

Update from March 1, 11:23 a.m .: Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) welcomed more US soldiers in Bavaria on Tuesday, who were being relocated because of the Ukraine war. These are troops from the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division from Fort Stewart (Georgia/USA), who are to be relocated from Nuremberg* to the 7th Army Training Command (7th ATC) in Grafenwoehr.

Söder has repeatedly commented on the Ukraine conflict* and offered Bavaria’s support. Söder praised the “special fund” for the Bundeswehr announced by Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD).
