There are weekends that are very special for certain drivers in Formula 1, and one of them is the French Grand Prix for the duo formed by Charles Leclerc and Esteban Ocon. The two young people grew up on the karting tracks of the Gallic country, despite the fact that one of them comes from Monaco, and they shared very good moments in childhood.
Now they compete face to face in the highest category of motorsports, and on the occasion of the home test, both have presented new helmet designs. In the case of the Ferrari driver, he wanted to pay a beautiful tribute to a person who left a mark on his life, none other than his father, Hervé , who died just before his son won in Baku in Formula 2.
In that race in the 2017 season , Leclerc climbed to the top of the podium raising his arms to the sky to remember who he loved so much, which is why he has chosen to immortalize the portraits he has with him on his helmet for the French Grand Prix of 2022.
With white and red colors, in clear reference to the flag of his country, he has revealed through an emotional video the photographs with which he has wanted to remember his father in the go-kart era.
Images with another of the most important people in his sports career could not be missing either, Jules Bianchi, who also grew up with him and with whom he shared the dream of reaching Ferrari in Formula 1.
Esteban Ocon, for his part, has chosen a design created by a young fan named Williams, whom he has thanked through social networks with a nice message, in addition to explaining its meaning.
“Red, white and blue are the colors of the flag of France and Alpine,” said the Frenchman. “I liked the flag of Évreux, the place where I was born, although it was difficult for me to draw it. I hope you like it.”
