The driver from Cervera was involved in an unfortunate accident while competing in the second qualifying session of the Italian Grand Prix. Marc Márquez was hit on the right hand side while exiting the chicane on the Italian track, and as a consequence the #93 experienced a mid-air somersault that caused a red flag at Mugello Autodrome.
The Repsol Honda Team rider, who came out of the second corner of the Italian track on his own feet, entered his box ready to use the Japanese manufacturer’s second bike.
The RC213V was destroyed and on fire after the highside of the Spanish pilot, forcing those responsible for the circuit to go to clear the area.
Circuit staff cleared the Italian track against the clock to ensure safety on the Italian track. Given this situation and after causing a red flag, the action on the track is being resumed at the Mugello Autodrome.
This crash adds to a bittersweet weekend in the garage of the Repsol Honda Team, which failed to set any significant time during Friday practice.
