The German Grand Prix did not start as planned for five of the MotoGP riders. The teams had warned before the test began that crashes were very possible, and their prediction came true shortly after the lights went out.
Pecco Bagnaia was the first to open this list, after going down while contesting the fourth lap at the Sachsenring circuit. The Ducati rider was chasing World Championship leader Fabio Quartararo when he crashed at the first corner of the German circuit. The Italian adds his fourth zero of the season and his aspirations to achieve the world championship are getting further and further away.

The second zero on Sunday went to Joan Mir. The Suzuki rider left the circuit under his own power after going down just seconds after Pecco Bagnania, at virtually the same point.
The Suzuki rider had the steering lock on his GSX-RR. Any possibility is clouded for the Japanese team, which did not have Alex Rins this Sunday, due to the fracture suffered by the Barcelona driver in the Catalunya GP.
The Spanish pilot was followed by Darryn Binder, author of the third yellow flag of the German Grand Prix.
Just a few meters later, the LCR box recorded the zeros of its two regular drivers. Alex Márquez and Takaaki Nakagami left the circuit, leaving the satellite Honda team without options at the German event. The team would later confirm that Marquez’s retirement was due to a holeshot problem.
Maverick Viñales also had to retire, after having put in a good performance until halfway through the German event. In his case, it was a problem with the shock absorber on the Rosas rider’s Aprilia that forced him to retire.
Another rider who was forced to get off the bike before reaching the finish line was Pol Espargaró, who had started the race with severe blows to his torso as a result of two crashes on Friday. The Honda rider had decided to infiltrate before starting the test, but it was not enough to be able to complete all the laps.
