Video: this is Verstappen's new helmet for F1 2022

The Red Bull driver won his first Formula 1 world title last year, after a duel with Lewis Hamilton that lasted until the last lap of the season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

And although there is still some controversy in reference to the FIA ‘s handling of the end of said race, Verstappen and Red Bull have not let that tarnish their success in beating Mercedes.

Counting down the days to the start of the 2022 season, when a new rules package will arrive, Max Verstappen has revamped his helmet design to highlight his first F1 championship.

Leaving aside the red color that he used last year, the Dutch driver has introduced gold accents throughout almost the entire helmet, even in the lion that adorns the upper part of it.

In addition, it has added the number “1” on the side of the helmet, as Verstappen has finally chosen to wear the number that marks him out as champion this year instead of sticking with his usual number 33.

Verstappen also asked his designers to add a star to the rear of the helmet to serve as a permanent reminder of his title achieved in the 2021 season.

Speaking at the end of last year, the Dutchman was clear that he would do everything possible to celebrate his success, which obviously included racing #1 in 2022.

“Yes, I will use it,” Verstappen said. “How many times can you do that? I don’t know, maybe it’s the only time I can in my life. I think it’s the best number there is. I will definitely put it on the car,” Max Verstappen concluded at the time.
