Misano.- The two days of training that Viñales carried out at the Marco Simoncelli circuit 15 days ago, provided him with the necessary information that led him this Friday morning to finish with the best time. As much as the inertia of the practice was interrupted by a downpour, scoring the best time injected him with a tremendous adrenaline rush, normal if we take into account what the Spaniard has experienced since he broke up with Yamaha .
Last Sunday, Viñales finished 18th in Aragón , in his first Grand Prix on the Aprilia . The sensations in Misano have nothing to do with those, and, while waiting to know the weather on Saturday morning, it would not be unreasonable for the one from Roses (Girona) to qualify directly for the second qualifying round (Q2) .
“It’s good to be in front, because it gives you confidence and shows that you still have speed. The best thing is that I have tested the bike in water and that it has a lot of potential,” he said.
“Here, in Misano, I already understand the circuit and all of a sudden I was faster than in the test”, summed up Viñales, who is continuing his adaptation process to the RS-GP , a prototype that has nothing to do with the M1 which he piloted for the past four and a half years.
“What makes the difference is that I already know how the bike behaves on this circuit. In Alcañiz I saw myself as a rookie who had never ridden in MotoGP”, added the rider from Aprilia, who is anxiously awaiting the collective training on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, to continue increasing his competitiveness.
“I’m looking forward to the test being carried out to see if with some changes I can still go faster,” warned Viñales.
