War in Ukraine: Radio stations remove song by pop singer Julian David from the program

Because: As schlager.de writes, some radio listeners are said to have complained about the song. This is called “Fire Sparks Rain” – not a very successful title in view of the Ukraine war. Which, of course, was not clearly foreseeable when it was published a few weeks ago.

The 32-year-old understands that radio stations are now not playing his new song. But of course he’s not really happy about it either. “Today two hearts are beating in my chest: As you have probably already read, my new song “Feuerfunkenregen” will be removed from the program on some radio stations,” he admits via Instagram.

Julian David: Schlagerstar expresses understanding for the measure

On the one hand, he can understand people who “do not feel the title is appropriate” due to the current situation. As an artist, it makes him personally sad because there is a lot of love and hope in the song.

Of course, Julian David is also aware that the terrible situation in Ukraine overshadows his personal interests in music. He therefore accepts the decision “and just hope that this madness will soon come to an end for all of us!” He told schlager.de .

Julian David sings in a new song from “Light Rockets” at night

In addition to the refrain line “We stand in the rain of fire sparks”, the song also contains the words “We are flares in the night / Everyone is already asleep, but we are awake.” In view of the attacks in Ukraine, which are causing many people to lose their sleep, some may find this inappropriate. Even if completely different things should be expressed when writing the song with great certainty.

Many fans express their regret for Julian David, but at the same time the measure is met with understanding. “Phew – I’m incredibly sad that this fantastic song is ultimately not played because of the choice of words, and at the same time I understand it as well as you do. Your song is so full of love,” writes one follower.

“I’m really sorry about the new song. But right now the world isn’t what it was,” read another Instagram comment. Of course, the Ukraine war was also discussed in the ESC preliminary round – with “A little peace”. (lin)
