"What a pity, I cannot touch or kiss her!", The moving words of a grandmother when she met her granddaughter, born during her quarantine

Despite the sad scenario that surrounds us, life continues to make its way with force, filling us all with hope. But although the arrival of a baby into the world is always a reason for joy, for families who are experiencing this event in times of coronavirus it can also be very frustrating, since hugs, kisses and presentations must be postponed.

If a few days ago we shared with you the shocking image of a grandfather meeting his grandson through a glass, today we leave you this other equally moving photograph: that of some grandparents seeing their granddaughter for the first time through the window of a car, with their faces covered by a mask and without being able to touch it.

The photograph and video of the moment were shared by the user saraguchi84 on her Instagram account, and are accompanied by an emotional text that draws the reality that many grandparents and grandchildren are currently experiencing .

You, mom, will you forgive me for not calling you to say “Mom, we’re going to the hospital, I’m in labor !!!” I knew that if you had done it you would have spent the night awake, turning your head a thousand times and suffering from the situation that we could be living in the hospital with which you are falling, and knowing you, surely dead of fear for us. Forgive me, but I wanted to save you that bad drink. Mama India came into the world surrounded by love, but there were no visitors, there were no balloons or chocolates, you couldn’t sit at the foot of my bed to talk about how it had gone, I didn’t have your hug, nor did she have your kiss. I was dying to explain to you that we achieved that natural birth that I dreamed of so much, I wanted to explain everything to you, I wanted you to feel proud of me, so many times that I had asked you, does mom hurt so much? And you always answered me the same thing, “a lot, but that pain is forgotten”, and now that I finally know what you felt, I can’t share it with you as I would like. You have not been able to have the photo of that first time with your granddaughter in your arms, you still do not know how soft her skin is, or what she smells like, believe me mom, this girl is made of velvet. This virus has stolen many moments from us, so I wanted to give you this surprise when you leave the hospital on the way home. I wanted you to at least get to know her for two minutes, I was content to come down to your door and show you your granddaughter behind those masks and through a window without being able to touch her. I can’t see your faces, but I know you and Dad are smiling, you are not able to speak without swallowing, and the tears in your eyes give you away.Never in my life would I have imagined that it would be like this, never in my life did I think that something so cold could become so extremely intimate and close, I have learned that kisses and hugs can also be given through the gaze. Mom, that hug will arrive, and everything we are experiencing will help us to value it much more, that kiss will arrive, that caress and we will be able to fill our box with memories of all those first times, we just have to wait a little longer. . . . #nacerenpandemia #covid #partonatural #parirenpandemia #mama #grandma #debalconabalcon

The instragramer, Saraguchi84, explains in her post that she did not want to notify her mother that the moment of delivery had arrived , because with this she intended to save her the nerves and the suffering of imagining what it would be like when her granddaughter came into the world in full coronavirus pandemic.

So once she was discharged, before arriving home she decided to surprise her parents with the news of the birth of her granddaughter in a very special way. To do this, he asked them to go outside for a minute and approach the car, at which point they discover that their granddaughter has been born .

In the video that accompanies the photograph we can see the grandmother exclaim in surprise and between tears of emotion: “Oh, what a pity my God, I can’t touch or kiss her!” . His words touch all of us to the heart, and his face covered by a mask, reveals sparkling eyes that speak without the need for more words.

The images are accompanied by a beautiful text in which the instagramer reflects on the moment of the meeting and everything that will come when this crisis is over:

Grandparents and grandchildren in times of coronavirus

For parents who have just welcomed a child, one of the most important and exciting moments is the introduction of that baby to the family , especially the grandparents. In addition, for the new mother who is fortunate to have her own mother, her support, hug and warmth are also essential.

But in these delicate moments, kisses and hugs must be given in the distance or through a mobile screen, and this can be especially hard and frustrating. The coronavirus has changed the way we relate to each other , but as this mother says in her post, the kisses will come. We just have to hold out a little longer.

Now is the time to take care of ourselves, take care of our children and protect our elders, so that when everything has passed, we can enjoy together again, as we did before … or even much more!

As mothers - especially when we are first-timers - and we want to do what is best for the baby, we simply have to go with our instincts. I say this as someone who started motherhood having read a lot about it, but to whom time has taught precisely that.

One of the most transcendental decisions that are made in the incipient role of father and mother, when the baby is still in the womb, is deciding the name of your son or daughter.
